MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for general maintenance of Departmental assets including facilities, equipment and fields and grounds. Utilize general knowledge to perform the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related fixtures. Carpentry: measures, cuts and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items; operates a wide variety of tools, including power, hand, etc. Painting: performs standard coating methods to properly finish and seal surfaces. Plumbing: makes basic plumbing repairs and installation of standard fixtures such as toilet, sink, garbage disposal, etc. Landscaping: performs grounds upkeep and maintenance by use of standard tools such as weed cutter, hand tools, mower, etc. Assists in facility management, submitting work orders when needed.
Coordinates department participation in and ensures compliance with a variety of Department of Navy programs such as safety, fire prevention, hazmat, and materials, etc. Works with various organizations to implement and manage ongoing compliance efforts for the department.
Procurement/Supply – Accounts for assigned inventories, receives materials ensuring proper processing and accountability procedures are followed and ensure in-house safeguards are in place to account for property, equipment, resale inventory, and assigned funds. Generates purchase orders requests, may manage government purchase card, and file as needed.
Coordinates set ups for special events and functions such as Command picnics, concerts, open houses, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge in the applicable combination of general skills of maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping), inventory control and basic procurement process. Incumbent should possess at least one-year experience preferred.

Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques.

Knowledge of compliance criteria as it relates to safety, fire prevention, hazmat, etc.

Skill in setting up special events and functions.

Requires possession of a valid driver’s license.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Requires general handy-man experience.
